Yvonne Larae Swedlund, 60, of Statesville, passed away peacefully in the presence of her husband on July 9th, 2018 after a short illness. She is now awaiting the return of her Lord and Saviour, Jesus Christ. Yvonne was, first and foremost, a child of God who always sought the kingdom of God first and loved to give to others in any way she could. She lived for the home fellowships she hosted and attended, as well as any kind of gathering that included other believers of God's incredible word. She had the most beautiful singing voice imaginable and blessed many people throughout her life with that gift. Yvonne was a loving wife and mother who enjoyed every moment with her family. She also blessed many friends and family with her excellent cooking and kind heart. She was preceded in death by her parents, Dennis and Penny Coan, and by her brother Jeffrey Allen Coan. Left to cherish the wonderful memories of her life are her loving husband of 30 years, James Harry Swedlund; her daughter Melissa Yvonne Swedlund; sisters-in-law Lori Coan and Jane Piat, and brothers-in-law Roy (Donna) Swedlund, Jeff (Lynn) Fisher, Glen (Susan) Swedlund and Robert (Rachel) Swedlund. She will also be missed by many aunts, uncles, nephews, nieces and cousins. Yvonne was born in Beloit Wisconsin January 30th, 1958. She graduated from Beloit Turner High School in 1976. Shortly after her graduation she served in a one-year Christian Word-over-the-World Ambassador program, where she was located in Greenville, South Carolina healing hearts and winning people to the Lord Jesus Christ. She attended college in the 1980s and graduated with a BA degree majoring in business with a minor in accounting. In 1988 she married the one her heart loved, with whom she raised her only child, Melissa, who was born in 1996. In 2002 Yvonne and her family relocated from Beloit, Wisconsin to Statesville, North Carolina where they have lived for the last 16 years. She considered North Carolina to be her new home, where she fell in love with both the people and the warm weather.
