Wilmath Sherman Barker

September 15, 1940 — April 3, 2015

Wilmath Sherman Barker, 74, of Statesville, passed away Friday, April 03, 2015 at Wake Forest Baptist Hospital. He was born in Wilkes County on September 15, 1940 to the late Samuel Sherman and Emma Jane Waddell Barker Shoemaker. He was educated in Wilkes County and was a self-employed commercial and residential painter. He was a member of Clear Vision Missionary Baptist Church. Left to cherish his memory are four sons, Michael, Scotty, Wayne, all of Stony Point and William Barker of New Jersey; three daughters, Tammy Crawford of Stony Point, Tammy Barker of New Jersey, and Dawn Drucker of Anderson, SC. He further survived by seven grandchildren, three great grandchildren, and one sister, Margie Pope of Statesville. Funeral services for Mr. Barker will be held Tuesday, April 7, 2015 at the Nicholson Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Jason Buchanan and Rev. Vance Carson officiating. A private family burial will be held at a later date at the Crestview Baptist Church Cemetery. The family will visit with friends prior to the service from 1:00 until 2:00PM. Memorials may be made to Crestview Baptist Church Cemetery Fund, 226 Crestview Acres Road, Statesville, NC 28677.
