Wilma Lorene Bryant

Wilma Lorene Brawley Bryant, 89, of Statesville passed away on Friday, October 20, 2017 at the Gordon Hospice House. She was born in Rowan County on November 5, 1927 to the late Floyd Alexander Brawley and Mamie Cornelius Mills Brawley. Mrs. Bryant was a graduate of Statesville Senior High School and was married to William "Bill" Bryant on June 30, 1973. Bill passed away on June 5, 1996 and they had shared almost 23 years of marriage before his passing. She had worked at Sears as an Assistant Manager. Mrs. Bryant loved bird watching and working a garden as she loved to watch things grow. She had attended St. Johns Lutheran Church when her health allowed her to attend. Along with her parents and husband, Bill, she was also preceded in death by two sisters, Lucy Brown and Irene Wagner, and one brother, Buddy Brawley. Left to cherish her memory are her daughter, Janis Mills (Phil) of Statesville; a grandson, Justin Mills of New York, NY; a granddaughter, Lauren Mills of Raleigh, NC; step-daughter, Ann Coker (George) of Roswell, GA; step-son, William Charles Bryant, Jr. (Vickie) of Statesville, and a sister, Helen White of Stony Point. A Memorial Service will be held 3:00 p.m. November 5, 2017 at St. Johns Lutheran Church with Pastor Ernest Sheldon officiating. The family will visit with friends prior to the service from 2:00 until 3:00 pm. A private family burial will be held at a late date. Memorials may be made to St. Johns Lutheran Church, 740 N.
