Mrs. Willie May Linker Knox, 93, of Statesville, passed away, Wednesday, October 22, 2014 at the Gordon Hospice House. Mrs. Knox was born May 31, 1921 in Cabarrus County, NC and was the daughter of the late Will Mack Linker and Lalla May King Linker. She was a graduate of Cabarrus and Mecklenburg County Schools and Lees McRae College. She was a WWII veteran having served in the U.S. Navy (WAVES) stationed in New York, NY from 1944 through 1946. She was retired from ACME Metal Slide as a secretary after 18 years and was a volunteer at Iredell Memorial Hospital as a Pink Lady for over 20 years. Mrs. Knox is survived by three children, Debbie Knox Wilson of Statesville, James H. "J.J." Knox, Jr. of Statesville, Daniel Knox, Sr. (Renee) of Troutman, five grandchildren, Sherri W. Fenick (Sean), Lisa C. Whitt (Eddie), Michelle Guillory (Jack), Daniel Knox, Jr. (Kristen), Bryan Knox and four great grandchildren. In addition to her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by three brothers, three sisters and one son-in-law. Funeral services will be conducted 3:00 p.m. Sunday, October 26, 2014 at New Perth ARP Church with Rev. Dan Hazen officiating. Burial will follow in the Bethel Presbyterian Church Cemetery in Cornelius, NC. The family will receive friends on Sunday 2:00-3:00 p.m. at New Perth ARP Church. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Hospice and Palliative Care of Iredell County, 2347 Simonton Rd., Statesville, NC or to New Perth ARP Church 204 E. West Ave., Troutman, NC. Nicholson Funeral Home is serving the family of Mrs. Willie Knox.
