William Loyd Gustin

William Loyd Gustin, a talented artist and dedicated barber, left this world on January 12, 2025, at the age of 30. Born on July 19, 1994, in Iredell, North Carolina, William filled the lives of those around him with his creativity and laughter. He was not only an artist behind the chair but also expressed his vibrant spirit through music, drawing, and as a recording artist.

William's journey in life was marked by deep faith and devotion. From a young age, he embraced his relationship with Jesus, experiencing a memorable moment of salvation while sitting on the potty, face painted like his beloved superhero, Batman. This joyful essence remained within him throughout his life. His personality was a blend of goofy charm and steadfast dedication; he was known for marching to his own drum, often making everyone around him smile.

A proud uncle, he cherished his role within his family. William leaves behind his loving mother, Judy Gustin; sisters Toney Sanchez and Callie Ireland, along with their spouses Isaias and Marcus. He will be remembered fondly by his beloved nieces and nephews: Selah Grace, Gideon Joseph, Solomon Asher, Ephraim Stephen, Sammy Jo, and Koe Pierce. His grandmothers, Carol Gustin and Joann Godfrey, as well as his North Carolina grandparents, Joan and Lenual Forsyth, will hold dear the memories of their cherished grandson.

Despite the loss of his father, Richard Stephen Gustin, who has passed away in 2023, William's spirit continues to thrive in the hearts of those he held dear. He was blessed with a close friendship with Josh Bunton, which enriched his life and provided support throughout their journey together.

William completed his education at Christian Family Academy in Hickory, NC, in 2012 and later graduated from the Winston Salem Barber School in 2022. His artistic talents extended beyond the walls of the barber shop; he carried his guitar wherever he went, sharing melodies and soothing music with those he met. Whether serving as a missionary locally or overseas, he always had a heart for helping others.

To honor William's memory, visitation will be held at TrueVine Worship Center in Statesville, NC, on January 20, 2025, from 2:00 PM to 3:30 PM, followed by a funeral service starting at 4:00 PM. Reverend Joshua Bunton will be officiating the service.  As we reflect on a life filled with laughter, creativity, and unwavering faith, we celebrate William Loyd Gustin—a truly unique soul who brought joy to everyone he encountered.
