William "Bill" Otto Hollingsworth, Jr.

Mr. William "Bill" Otto Hollingsworth, Jr., 74, of Statesville, passed away Tuesday, November 27, 2018 at his home.



Bill was born April 11, 1944 in Charlotte, NC and was the son of the late William Otto Hollingsworth, Sr. and Marie Gwinn Hollingsworth. He graduated from Appalachian State University and on October 29, 1977, he married Susan Bard Hollingsworth, who survives.



Bill was a retired realtor and retired from the US Military following 20 years of service in the US Marine Corp (1971), US Army (1978) and as a First Sargent in the US Air Force in 1999. He was also deployed during the Gulf War. Following his retirement from the service, he went to work for Iredell County as an Emergency Medical Technician (EMT). He was an active member of First Presbyterian Church, where he served as a Deacon, in the Adult Choir and in the Young Men's Bible Class.



In addition to his wife, he is survived by two sons, Chris Hollingsworth (Magealena) of Dallas, TX, Alex Hollingsworth (Kimberly) of Charlotte and three grandchildren, William Thomas Hollingsworth, Alyssa Marie Hollingsworth and Brianna Love Hollingsworth.



Funeral services will be 11:00 a.m. Saturday, December 1, 2018 at First Presbyterian Church with Rev. Wes Pitts and Rev. Grant Sharp officiating. The family will visit with friends 10:00-11:00 a.m. in the Church Fellowship Room. Burial will follow in Oakwood Cemetery with full military honors provided by the Iredell County Veterans Burial Detail.
