Wayne William Henderson

Wayne William Henderson, 84, of Statesville, passed away Saturday, December 01, 2018 at the Gordon Hospice House. He was born on June 2, 1934 in Iredell County to the late James Clarence and Bertha Johnson Henderson.



Wayne attended Statesville Senior High and Mitchell College. He served his country honorably in the U.S. Navy from 1951 until 1955 on the U.S.S. Missouri. Wayne was married to Christine Russell Henderson on December 24, 1955 and they shared almost 63 years of marriage before his passing. He worked at Uniglass and retired from Clark Schwebel after 40 years of service. He was a member of Christ Boulevard United Methodist Church. Wayne enjoyed photography, was an avid golfer, loved his family, and spent time attending his grandson's sporting events.



Along with his parents, he was preceded in death by four brothers, James, Glenn, Paul, and Roy; and two sisters, Ruby Combs and Shirley Bradham.



Left to cherish his memory are his wife, Christine; three sons, Steve Henderson (Debbie), Gregg Henderson (Claudia), and Eric Henderson; four grandsons, Ross, Josh (Lyndsey), Colby, and Caleb Henderson; and two great granddaughters, Adalyn and Emmalyn Henderson.



Funeral services will be held 11:00 am Tuesday, December 4, 2018 at Christ Boulevard United Methodist Church with Rev. Sara Scruggs and Rev. Dr. Bob Dennis officiating. Burial with military honors will follow in Oakwood Cemetery. The family will visit with friends at the church prior to the service from 10:00 am until 10:45 am.
