Walter Ronald "Ron" Weatherman, 74, of Statesville, passed away Wednesday, November 18, 2015 at his residence. He was born in Iredell County on January 9, 1941 to the late Walter E. and Marie Privette Weatherman. Ron was a graduate of Statesville High School in 1959 and served his country honorably in the National Guard. He married Nan Ketchie on May 19, 1962 and they had over 53 years of marriage before his passing. Ron was a member of Forest Park Presbyterian Church having served as an Elder, Deacon, and Sunday school teacher. He worked for the City of Statesville as the Superintendent of Parks and Recreation for 22 years and served as Director of Solid Waste for Iredell County for 20 years having retired in 2004. Ron was a member, officer, and board member of SWANA (Solid Waste Association of North America) and was a member of Duck Creek Gun Club. Left to cherish his memory are his wife, Nan; two sons, Matt Weatherman (Lori) of Statesville and David Weatherman (Ashlee) of Boone; two granddaughters, Marley Weatherman and Colbie Weatherman; two grandsons, Sam Weatherman and Jack Weatherman; and three brothers, Allen Weatherman (Jeanie), James Weatherman, and Jerry Weatherman. A Celebration of Life Service will be held 11:00AM Saturday, November 21, 2015 at Forest Park Presbyterian Church with Rev. Scott Jeffreys officiating. The family will visit with friends at the church prior to the service from 10:00 until 10:30 AM.
