Virginia Whitley

Mrs. Virginia Pearl Newman Whitley, 93, of Statesville, passed away Friday, October 2, 2015 at Statesville Place. Mrs. Whitley was born February 27, 1922 in Statesville, NC and was the daughter of the late Clyde R. Newman and Lela McGee Newman. She attended Statesville City Schools and was married to the late Matthew Lee Whitley. She was a member of St. John's Lutheran Church and was retired from The Union West Terminal as a Manager. She was a member of the Civitans, American Women's Association, Iredell Senior Center and was an actress and Director for The Little Theatre. Memorial services will be conducted 2:00 p.m. Wednesday, October 7, 2015 in the Nicholson Funeral Home Chapel with Jennifer Grant officiating. Burial will be held in Oakwood Cemetery. All in attendance are asked to dress as their favorite character in honor of Virginia Whitley.
