Virginia Lee Parks

November 16, 1939 — July 8, 2015

After struggling for 3 years with Cortical Basal Gangliatic Degeneration, God welcomed Virginia Lee Davidson Parks home. She passed away Wednesday, July 8, 2015 surrounded by her family, listening to her favorite Christian traditional hymns. Virginia was born November 16, 1939 to Dura Mowbray Davidson and Teddy Davidson. She grew up on a farm in Olin, NC. She never missed a day of school in 12 years and graduated from Harmony High School as Valedictorian in 1958. Virginia worked at Parks Realty Company where she met the love of her life, Sherrill Parks, whom she married. On March 10, 2015 they celebrated 52 years together. Family was very important to Virginia. She loved spending time with her family, especially at Christmas. She recently enjoyed a Caribbean cruise with her whole family. She has two children she was so proud of, Kim Parks Michaels of Morganton and Debbie Parks Lankford (Dean) of Statesville. She has three grandchildren she adored: Amanda and Bailey Lankford of Statesville and Kalib Michaels of Morganton. She is also survived by her brother Tootsie Davidson of N. Wilkesboro. Virginia loved flowers and Elvis. She enjoyed cooking and relaxing at the lake. Virginia loved God and attended Westwood Baptist Church in Statesville. She is now pain free and at peace with her Heavenly Father, along with her beloved mom, dad and brothers; Carl, Gilbert and Bill Davidson. Funeral services will be 2:30 pm Sunday, July 12, 2015 at Westwood Baptist Church with Pastor Mike Hyde and Pastor Carlton Davidson officiating. Burial will follow in Oakwood Cemetery. The family will receive friends on Saturday evening 6:00-8:00 p.m. at Nicholson Funeral Home.
