Virginia Johnson Simpson

Virginia Johnson Simpson, 84, of Statesville, passed away Sunday, July 23, 2017 at home. She was born in Wilkes County on September 20, 1932 to the late John Caviness Johnson and Flossie Adeline Gregory Johnson. Mrs. Simpson was a graduate of Wilkes Central High School in 1953, and was married to David Mason Simpson who died in 2010. She had retired from Hunt Manufacturing where she was a machine operator. In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by a son, William Riggs, three sisters, Mary Lou Jarvis, Nadine Felts, and Jane Campbell, and a brother-in-law, Ervin Simpson. She is survived by a daughter, Patricia Upright (James), her grandchildren and great grandchild, two sisters, Margie Brooks and Doris Deane, along with a sister-in-law, Joyce Simpson; and a nephew, Billy Simpson (Terry). Memorial services will be conducted 11:00 am Saturday, July 29, 2017 in the Nicholson Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Dr. J.B. Parker, Jr. officiating. Burial will follow in Oakwood Cemetery. The family will visit with friends on Saturday morning prior to the service from 10;00 until 11:00 am at the funeral home.
