Virginia Geraldine Johns

Virginia Geraldine Neuner Johns, 86, of Statesville, died Monday, March 25, 2024, at Iredell Memorial Hospital.

She was born in Buffalo, New York on May 3, 1937, to the late John Edward Neuner and Virginia Simoniet Neuner. She was also preceded in death by her husband of 60 years, Leo James Johns, and a sister, Shirley Yott. 

Virginia earned her degree to become a registered nurse at the age of 50. She was an avid reader, loved to crochet, go camping, traveling, bowling, and loved her church.  She also truly enjoyed a cup of coffee!

Those left to cherish her memory include two sons, Michael Johns (Nancy Benzin), Jonathan Johns (Lisa), three daughters, Jeannette Casey (Clyde Wesley), Jennifer Griepentrog (Scott), Susan Norton (Jim Kavanaugh), a sister, Rosemary Howard, 13 grandchildren, and numerous great and great-great-grandchildren.

A Celebration of Life Service will be held Monday, April 1, 2024, at 6:00 pm in the Nicholson Funeral Home Chapel with Pastor James Lewis officiating. The family will visit with friends from 5:00 to 6:00 prior to the service.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Rainbow Kidz, c/o Hospice of Iredell County, 2347 Simonton Rd., Statesville, NC 28625.
