Virginia Jenkins

Virginia Fortner Jenkins, 89, of Statesville, passed away, Monday, July 18, 2011 at Iredell Memorial Hospital. Mrs. Jenkins was born April 16, 1922 in Iredell County and was the daughter of the late George B. Fortner and Ethel Houston Fortner. She was a graduate of Iredell County Schools and worked at the Family Dollar retiring at age 83. She was a member of Front Street Baptist Church and was preceded in death by three husbands. Mrs. Jenkins is survived by two nieces, Cathy Moore of Stony Point, Patty Frazier (Chuck) of Hiddenite, three great nieces, Kim Icenhour (Bryan) of Hiddenite, Donna Rankins (Rhyne) of Stony Point, Jamie Burris (Jason) of Waynesville, two great nephews, Jerry Moore, Jr. of Statesvillem Nick Bumgarner of Ashevlle, two great great nieces and three great great nephews. Graveside funeral services will be conducted 3:30 p.m. Wednesday, July 20, 2011in Oakwood Cemetery with Rev. Marvin Bayer officiating. The family will receive friends Wednesday 2:00-3:15 p.m. at Nicholson Funeral Home.
