Virgie Cloer Holland, 99, of Statesville, passed away Sunday, February 14, 2016, at Rosewood Assisted Living. Mrs. Holland was born February 6, 1917, in Catawba County and was the daughter of the late Roby Littlewood Cloer and Gertrude Lowdermilk Cloer. She attended Catawba County schools and she was married to Kermit Fletcher Holland, who preceded her in death on March 14, 1997. Mrs. Holland was a self-employed seamstress and was a longtime member of St. John's Lutheran Church. In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by a son, Bobby Ray Holland, a daughter-in-law, Annette Holland along with one brother and two sisters. She is survived by one daughter, Deleta H. Hager (Frank) of Statesville and four sons, Max Holland (Priscilla) of Sylva, NC, Larry W. Holland of Calhoun, TN, Tony L. Holland (Linda) of Brentwood, CA, and Danny L. Holland (Linda) of Woodruff, SC. She is further survived by ten grandchildren, 11 great grandchildren, and 3 great-great grandchildren. Funeral services celebrating the life of Virgie Holland will be conducted 12:00 PM Thursday, February 18, 2016, at St. John's Lutheran Church with Pastor Ernie Sheldon and Rev. Tom Corbell officiating. The family will visit with friends for one hour prior to the funeral hour. Interment will follow in Iredell Memorial Gardens Cemetery. Active pallbearers will be Roy "Skip" Kress, Wayne Kahill, David Pope, Scott Wilson and Ross and Ashley Holland. The family would like to express their sincerest appreciation to the staff of Rosewood Assisted Living and Dr. Carla Pence and staff for the love and compassion shown to Virgie. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to St. John's Lutheran Church, 740 N. Center Street, Statesville, NC 28677.
