Vernon Mcneil

William Vernon McNeil, 94, of Statesville, passed away Wednesday, April 6, 2011 at Iredell Memorial Hospital. Mr. McNeil was born January 13, 1917 in N. Wilkesboro, N.C. and was the son of the late Alonzo McNeil and Nora Riggs McNeil. He attended Wilkes County schools and was married to Ella Billings McNeil, who preceded him in death. Mr. McNeil was retired from Buster Brown Textiles where he worked as a production supervisor and he was a member of First Baptist Church in Statesville. Mr. McNeil was a veteran of World War II, having served in the European Theatre. Mr. McNeil is survived by two daughters, Linda McNeil McMullen of Santa Fe, NM and Caroline McNeil of Los Angeles, CA along with two grandsons, Strahan McMullen of San Francisco, CA and Justin Ragan of Los Angeles, CA. A funeral service will be conducted 2:00 PM Sunday, April 10, 2011 at First Baptist Church with Dr. Jeff Porter officiating. Burial will follow in the Mount Lawn Cemetery in North Wilkesboro.
