Vera Evelyn Shuford

June 15, 1933 — July 28, 2018

Vera Evelyn Jarrett Shuford, 85, of Statesville, passed away Saturday, July 28, 2018 at the Gordon Hospice House. She was born in Catawba County on June 15, 1933 to the late Frank and Carrie Schronce Jarrett.



Vera was a graduate of Plateau High School in Newton, N.C. and was married to Harry Russell Shuford, Jr. on September 10, 1950. They shared over 47 years of marriage. She was retired from the Statesville Police Department where she was secretary of the Investigation Division. Vera was a member of First ARP Church where she sang in the choir. She was a loving mother, grandmother, and friend who will be missed by all who knew her.



Along with her parents and husband, Harry, she was preceded in death by a brother, Dean Jarrett.



Left to cherish her memory are two sons, Tommy Shuford (Jan) and Ricky Shuford (Julie); one daughter, Toni "Sissy" Shuford; five grandchildren, John Shoaf, Mary Godin, Bryant Shuford, Monica Shuford, and Abi Shuford; and one sister, Phylis Synder (Mel).



A Graveside Service will be held 11:00 am Tuesday, July 31, 2018 at Oakwood Cemetery. The family will visit with friends Monday evening (July 30, 2018) at Nicholson Funeral Home from 6:00 until 8:00pm.
