Vera Anderson Rash, 96, of Statesville went to her Heavenly Home on Thursday, August 4, 2016 at Iredell Memorial Hospital. She was born in Iredell County on October 8, 1919 to the late Julius Franklin and Essie Hedrick Rash. Anderson was a graduate of Troutman High School Class of 1937 and Catawba School of Nursing. She was retired from Davis Hospital where she worked third shift in the Maternity Ward. She loved taking care of the babies and the new mothers. Anderson was a member of Holy Trinity Lutheran Church in Troutman and loved her church. She delivered meals for the church for a number of years provided by Julia's Talley House and also delivered for Meals on Wheels in Statesville for over 25 years. Anderson was a long-time volunteer for the Red Cross Bloodmobile. She was an avid reader and enjoyed being a member of the Primetimers at Broad Street United Methodist Church. Anderson's favorite quote was "I'm a working on it!" Along with her parents, Anderson was also preceded in death by six sisters and one brother. Left to cherish her memory are a daughter, Jane Simon (George); two grandsons, Christopher William Simon (Jennifer) and Peter William Simon; a granddaughter, Laura Simon Reid (Andy); great grandchildren, Georgiana Simon, William Simon, Jenna Simon, Max Simon, and Mallory Reid; numerous nieces and nephews; and a special daughter, Sue Davidson. A Celebration of Life Service will be held 2:00 pm Monday, August 8, 2016 at Holy Trinity Lutheran Church in Troutman with Rev. Dieter W. Punt officiating. The family will visit with friends following the service in the Fellowship Hall. Burial will be held at a later date in the Troutman Historical Family Cemetery. Honorary pallbearers will be Sam Troutman, David Troutman, Joe Troutman, Ronald Clodfelter, Scott Hill, and Maurice Sherrill.
