Velma Ruth Tedder

Velma Ruth Fesperman Tedder, 87, of Statesville, passed away Friday, August 12, 2016 at the Gardens of Statesville. She was born on March 11, 1929 in Rowan County to the late James W. Fesperman, Sr. and Maggie Fautz Fesperman. Mrs. Tedder was educated in the Rowan County Schools System and was married to Garland Aaron Tedder on July 12, 1947. They enjoyed over 57 years of marriage before his passing in 2004. Velma was retired from Beaunit Mills and was a member of Saint Johns Lutheran Church. She taught folk art painting at the Statesville Senior Center. Along with her parents and husband, Garland, she was preceded in death by brothers Raymond and John Fesperman and sisters Sadie Honeycutt and Bonnie Sutton. Left to cherish her memory are two sons, Randy Tedder (Sherry) and Ricky Tedder (Susan), both of Statesville; two granddaughters, Dr. Tina Tedder Starling (Ray) of McLean, VA and Lauren Tedder of Statesville; a grandson, Brandon Tedder of Statesville; a great granddaughter, Victoria Starling of McLean, Va; and two brothers, J.W. Fesperman (Ruth) of Kannapolis and Ray Fesperman (Fran) of Faith Funeral services will be held 4;00 pm Monday, August 15, 2016 at Saint Johns Lutheran Church with Pastor Marty Ramey officiating. Burial will follow in the Oakwood Cemetery. The family will visit with friends prior to the service in the Fellowship Hall from 3:00 until 4:00 pm.
