Tony Leroy Huffman

Tony Leroy Huffman, 67, of Union Grove, passed away Monday, July 17, 2017 at the Gordon Hospice House. He was born on June 2, 1950 in Catawba County to the late James Preston McLaughlin Huffman and Catherine Lucille Herman Huffman. Tony was a graduate of St. Stephens High School and attended Lenoir Rhyne College. On February 7, 2003, he married Cynthia Diane Bryan, who survives. He was owner/operator of T.L. Huffman, Inc. and specialized in asphalt paving and repair. Tony served on the Board of Directors of Wilkes/Iredell Fire Department and he had a passion for horses. He was a lifetime member of the American Quarter Horse Association and his horse, Embraceable Dream, won the World Championship Amateur Western Pleasure in 1987 in Oklahoma City, OK. He served the North Carolina Quarter Horse Association for years including serving as President of the Association. Tony was a member of Union Grove Christian Church and had a great love of his Lord. He loved his family and his friends and will be missed by all who knew him. Along with his parents, he was preceded in death by two brothers, Eddie and Joe Huffman and a nephew, Myron Adams. Left to cherish his memory are his wife, Cindy; a daughter, Cecily Bryan; a son, Preston "P.J." Huffman; a brother, Ken Huffman (Caroline); a sister, Barbara Adams; and numerous nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be held 11:00 am Friday, July 21, 2017 at Union Grove Christian Church with Rev. Allen Lunsford officiating. The family will visit with friends following the service.
