Timothy Nixon

Mr. Timothy Dale Nixon, 49, of Troutman, passed away June 13, 2011 at the Gordon Hospice House. Mr. Nixon was born Oct. 23, 1961 in Iredell County and was the son of the late Dale Nixon and Catherine N. Barnette. He was raised by his late grandmother, Lucy Nixon. Mr. Nixon was also preceded in death by his father-in-law, James Waugh. He attended Troutman City Schools and was a dedicated employee for 28 years to Hugh's Sheet Metal before disability retiring. He enjoyed working on tractors, antique cars and riding motorcycles with Jean Marie and his friends. Mr. Nixon is survived by the love of his life, Jean Marie Waugh of the home, two sons, Brent Nixon of the home, Timothy D. Nixon, Jr. of Haywood Co., NC, one daughter, Amy Nixon of Cherokee Co., NC, one sister, Sandy N. Hefner (Donald) of Statesville, step-mother, Rosey Nixon of Low Gap, step-father, Buster Barnette of Statesville, two step-brothers, Ricky Nixon (Sheila), David Nixon (Donna) , two step-sisters, Sherry and Gina Nixon and a number of nieces and nephews. He is also survived by special friend and caregiver, Darlene Brown and mother-in-law and friend Ruth Waugh. Funeral services will be conducted 2:00 p.m. Thursday, June 16, 2011 in the Nicholson Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Arnold Dulin and Brother Hilton officiating. Burial will follow in the Iredell Memorial Cemetery. Active pallbearers will be Keith Waugh, Dennis Hager, Bobby Stewart, Curtis Deaton, Danny Waugh, Donald Murray. Honorary pallbearers will be Darrell Moose and Roger Waugh. The family will receive friends Wed. evening 6:30-8:30 p.m. at Nicholson Funeral Home.
