Timothy Michael Smith

Timothy "Tim" Michael Smith, 42, of Statesville, died Saturday, April 8, 2017, from injuries suffered in an automobile accident. Mr. Smith was born in Colorado Springs, CO on October 2, 1974, and was the son of Patricia Green Smith and the late Harold Smith. He was a graduate of North Iredell High School and attended Mitchell Community College. Tim was an avid Denver Broncos Fan. He enjoyed cooking and had a love for Buick Grand National cars and especially the '87 model. Tim enjoyed playing guitar and his friends have expressed their love for hearing him play. He was an exceptional person and will be missed by all who knew him. In addition to his father, Harold Smith, he was preceded in death by his paternal grandparents, Harold I. Smith and Mazelle T. Smith as well as his maternal grandfather, Calvin Coolidge Green. Along with his mother, Patricia Smith, he is survived by a son, Layne Calvin Smith, Layne's mother Kara Levesque, both of Statesville, a brother, Tony Smith (Crystal) of Statesville, his maternal grandmother, Phyllis M. Green, special uncles and aunts, Ralph and Sandra Green of FL, Jim and Kelly Bost of Harrisburg, NC and Larry and Cathy Thomas of Mint Hill. He is also survived by two nephews, Anthony and Matthew Smith of Statesville along with a number of cousins. Funeral services for Tim Smith will be conducted at 3:00 PM Thursday, April 13, 2017, in the Nicholson Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Marcia McQueen officiating. The family will visit with friends from 1:30 until 3:00 PM at the funeral home. Burial will follow at 1:00 PM Friday, April 14, 2017, in the Jones Springs UMC Cemetery in Derby, NC.
