Timothy Carter Harris

Timothy Carter Harris, 71, of Taylorsville, passed away Thursday, January 19, 2017 at his residence. He was born in Baltimore, Maryland on February 25, 1945 to the late Jack Bristol Harris and Lucille Barker Harris. Mr. Harris was a graduate of Statesville Senior High School and was retired from J.C. Penney after 40 years of service to the company. On March 8, 1981, he married Donna Motto and they enjoyed over 35 years of marriage before his passing. Mr. Harris was a loving husband, father and friend. He attended Front Street Baptist Church for many years where he met his wife, Donna Motto Harris. For the past 12 years Tim was a dedicated member of the Clear Vision Missionary Baptist Church where he shared his strong faith and love of the Lord with his many friends and church family. Tim had a wonderful voice and a love of gospel music. He was a member of the Anchormen Quartet for many years and enjoyed singing and sharing his love of music with others. Tim's other passions included his dogs which he loved spending time with after retirement. He also worked part time for Wilson Security. Enjoyed working outside in the yard and watching horror movies. He always liked a good joke and enjoying making others laugh. In his younger years Tim enjoyed lifting weights, bowling and spending time at the beach with Donna. Along with his parents, he was preceded in death by a son, Shawn Carter Harris. Left to cherish his memory are his wife, Donna; two daughters, Alysha Celene Lord (Chris) of Clarksville, TN and Shayna Adele Harris of Statesville; four grandchildren, Raven, Benjamin, Camryn, and Carter Lord; two brothers, Tony Harris (Kitty) of Salisbury, NC and Richard Harris (Sylvia) of Greenville, SC; two sisters, Ruth Goldsmith (Chip) of Savannah, GA and Martha Lundy (John) of Statesville; three nieces; seven nephews; and lifelong friends, Vance and Ruby Carson. A Memorial Service will be held 11:00 AM Monday, January 23, 2017 at Clear Vision Missionary Baptist Church, 180 South Lackey Street, Statesville, NC 28677 with Pastor Jason Buchanan and Associate Pastor Vance Carson officiating. Music to be provided by Ruby Carson. Visitation with family and friends to follow immediately in the fellowship hall.
