Thomas Allen Coley

March 1, 1940 — July 24, 2018

Mr. Thomas Allen Coley, 78, of Statesville, died Tuesday, July 24, 2018 at Wake Forest University Baptist Medical Center in Winston-Salem. Born in Iredell County on March 1, 1940, he was a son of the late James William Coley and Brownie Boovey Coley Freeland.



Mr. Coley was a graduate of Statesville High School and received many hours of training with the Statesville Fire Department. He retired from the Statesville Fire Dept as a Capt. following 30 years of service. Mr. Coley was a member of Landmark Church Of God for over 60 years and served as an Elder. On February 26, 1997 he married Joncie Lytton Coley, who survives.



Mr. Coley was a devoted man of God and served his Lord with strong conviction and love. He lived his life to serve God and his community. He was an avid hunter and fisherman and was famous for his fish fry's. His house was most enjoyable when it was full. When it came to babies, he never met a stranger.



Along with his parents, he was preceded in death by his first wife, Brenda Owens Coley, two brothers, Charlie & Bill Coley and a sister, Sue Coley Freeland.



In addition to his wife Joncie Lytton Coley, he is survived by a son, Thomas Allen Coley, Jr (Sheryl), and two daughters, Pamela Coley Pendergrass (Eddie) and Lisa Coley Rhoades (Tim); brothers James Coley (Brenda), Jerry Coley (Linda) and John Coley and a sister Brenda Coley Jackson. He is also survived by five grandchildren: Eddie Pendergrass, Jr., Josh Pendergrass, Angela Wyatt, Samantha Coley and Morgan Coley along with four great grandchildren, one great great-grandchild and many nieces and nephews.



Funeral services are scheduled for 2:00 PM Saturday, July 28 at Landmark Church of God with Bishop Phil Pearson and Bishop Ken Hudson officiating. Burial will follow at Iredell Memorial Gardens. The family will greet friends from 12:30 until 2:00 PM Saturday at the church. Members of the Statesville Fire Department will serve as active pallbearers.
