Thelma Morrow Bridges

Mrs. Thelma Morrow Bridges, 93, of Statesville, went home to be with her Savior Friday, December 25th at 12:02 am. Mrs. Bridges was born in Iredell County on April 6, 1922, and was the daughter of the late Tipton Pressly and Martha "Mattie" Nash Morrow. She was a graduate of Celeste Henkle School. On November 15, 1941 she married Ivory M. Bridges, who preceded her in death on March 24, 2001. She was a homemaker and loved spoiling her granddaughter and great grandchildren. She was a life long member of Bethlehem United Methodist Church where she was a member of the choir and the United Methodist Women. In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceeded in death by six sisters, Hattie Roseman, Ezzie Ostwalt, Alta Little, Voda Ostwalt, Mae Loftin, and Pearl Rayle; and four brothers, Floyd Morrow, Gordon Morrow, Jay Morrow and Eckles Morrow. She is survived by a son, Jimmy D. Bridges of Statesville; a daughter, Terrie B. Ross (Marshall) of Statesville; one granddaughter, Stacey Helmandollar (Jerry) and two great-grandchidren, Joshua and Emma Helmandollar all of Franklinton, NC. Also surviving are two sisters, Gearldyne M. Burnette of Statesville and Nelle M. Bordon of Melbourne, FL and numerous neices and nephews. Funeral services for Mrs. Bridges will be held on Sunday, December 27, 2015 at 3:00 pm at Bethlehem United Methodist Church, 607 Bethlehem Road, Statesville, NC 28677 with Reverands Cokie Bristol, Olin Isenhour, and Jerry Helmandollar officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends prior to the service from 2:00 to 3:00 pm in the Bethlehem Church CLC building.
