Thelma Mae Odell

Thelma Mae Levan Odell, 85, of Statesville, earned her heavenly wings on Wednesday, February 6, 2019, at her home.



Mrs. Odell was born in Iredell County on February 24, 1933 and was the daughter of the late Arthur Gilbert Levan and Sarah Gladys Adams. She was a graduate of Hiddenite High School.



Mrs. Odell was a member of Command Baptist Church and she was retired from Troutman Industries. She was also a member of The Senior Citizen Club and The Alexander Ladies Auxiliary Club. She loved playing games, quilting, cooking, canning, photography, gardening, and listening to local Gospel bands. She loved playing practical jokes on people to see their reaction.



In addition to her parents, Mrs. Odell was preceded in death by seven brothers, Thomas Gale, Arthur Lee, Kenneth Eugene, James Howard, William Nelson, Cecil Gray, and James Bobby Levan along with two sisters, Jennie Louise Levan and Nina Juanita Levan Walker.



Left to cherish her memory is a special niece and caregiver, Robin Dobson (Dwayne) of Union Grove, two sisters-in-law, Minnie Lee Levan, and Frances Levan and one brother, Franklin Douglas Levan (Mary) all of Hiddenite. A host of special nieces, nephews, and cousins also survive. She had a special friend who was a very kindhearted neighbor, Frank Crawford.



Funeral services honoring the life of Thelma Odell will be conducted at 3:00 PM Sunday, February 10, 2019, at Command Baptist Church with Rev. Tony Fox and Rev. Bobby Henderson officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. The family will speak with friends from 2:00 until 2:45 PM at the church. Active pallbearers will be Robert Goforth, Bubba Bowman, Jamie Walker, Jacob Dobson, Jordan Dobson, Lewis Walker.
