Mrs. Thelma Geneva Miller Gregory, 82, of Statesville, passed away Tuesday, May 13, 2014, at Gordon Hospice House. Mrs. Gregory was born October 4, 1931, in Iredell County and was the daughter of the late Hubert E. Miller and Eva Nell Campbell Miller. She was a graduate of Celeste Henkel School and on June 7, 1952, she married Espy Paul Gregory, who survives. Mrs. Gregory was formerly employed with Spainhours and J.C. Penney Department Stores where she worked as a sales clerk. She was a member of Sharon Lutheran Church and she taught Sunday School for the children. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by four sisters and one brother. Along with her husband of 61 years, Espy, Mrs. Gregory is also survived by two sons, Tony Gregory (Tammy) of Statesville and Roger Gregory (Teresa) of Maryville, TN, along with one daughter, Kathy Gregory Nixon (Rick) of Marietta, GA. She is also survived by five grandchildren, Timberly Gregory, Daniel Gregory, Kelsey Nixon Shepperd, Ryan Nixon, and Reed Nixon. She was a devoted wife, mother, and grandmother and she will be missed by all who knew her. She had a special place in her heart for dogs but especially her dogs Lovie, Buddy, Snoopy, Kiley, and Nugget. Funeral services for Mrs. Gregory will be conducted 3:00 PM Friday, May 16, 2014, at Sharon Lutheran Church with Rev. Gene Bruce officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. The family will visit with friends Thursday evening from 6:00 until 8:00 PM at Nicholson Funeral Home. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be given to the Gordon Hospice House, 2341 Simonton Road, Statesville, NC 28625, or to Sharon Lutheran Church, 2116 Island Ford Road, Statesville, NC 28625.
