Thelma Cosey

Thelma Hartness Cosey, 95, of Statesville, passed away Saturday, April 23, 2011, at Gordon Hospice House. Mrs. Cosey was born December 2, 1915 in Iredell County and was the daughter of the late W.W "Dick" Hartness and Emma Nicholson Hartness. She attended Iredell County Schools and on March 28, 1943, she was married to Leslie Cosey, who preceded her in death. In addition to her parents and husband, Mrs. Cosey was also preceded in death by a daughter, Martha Cosey Sharpe, a son-in-law, Roy Sharpe, and a granddaughter, Brenda Ann Sharpe. Mrs. Cosey was a member of Snow Creek United Methodist Church and was a retired homemaker. Mrs. Cosey is survived by one son, David Cosey (Amy) of Statesville; three daughters, Sherry Cosey of Statesville, Carol Reynolds of Winston-Salem, N.C., and Linda Durmire (Sam) of Hudson, N.C., along with two grandchildren, eleven great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild. Funeral services will be conducted 2:00 PM Tuesday, April 26, 2011 at Snow Creek UMC with Rev. Brenda Brasher officiating. The family will visit with friends from 1:00 until 2:00 pm at the church. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.
