Ted Jefferson Medlin

Ted Jefferson Medlin, 77, of Statesville, passed away on Tuesday, March 21, 2017, at the Gordon Hospice House. Mr. Medlin was born in High Point, NC on December 14, 1939, and was the son of the late Joe M. Medlin and Blanch Eury Medlin. He attended Guilford County schools and on October 4, 1960, he married Alma Mahaffey Medlin, who survives. Mr. Medlin was self-employed as owner\operator of the Statesville Skateland along with being owner\operator of Ted's Tours and was successful with other business adventures. He was also a private pilot and enjoyed building and flying model airplanes. Along with his wife of 56 years, Alma Medlin, he is survived by one son, Todd Medlin and three daughters, Sharon Sigmon (Brad), Kristy Medlin, and April Kent (Corey), all of Statesville. He is also survived by three grandchildren, Brandon and Kaylon Gryder and Abbie Kent along with one brother, Dan Medlin (Faye) of Statesville, three sisters, Connie Hartsell (Guy) of Hickory, Maxine Monteith of Sanford, and Linda Groce of Fort Wright, KY. His K-9 companion, Daisy and a host of nieces and nephews also survive. Funeral services for Ted Medlin will be conducted at 2:30 PM Friday, March 24, 2014, in the Nicholson Funeral Home Chapel with Pastor Thomas Young officiating. Burial will follow in the Grassy Knob Baptist Church Cemetery. The family will visit with friends from 1:00 until 2:30 PM Friday at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to the Gordon Hospice House, 2341 Simonton Road, Statesville, NC 28625.
