Susie Beaver

April 12, 1916 — August 8, 2013

Mary Sue Ingram Beaver, 97, of the Monticello community, entered Heaven on Thursday, August 8, 2013. "Susie" was born April 12, 1916 in Alexander County to Finley Alfonzo and Jessie Chapman Ingram. She married Alpha Parks Beaver, "Beaver the Key Man" in 1939. She held the most important position of all that of a devoted wife and loving mother, grandmother, and great grandmother. This was her calling and passion. She was a charter member of Monticello Baptist Church and served faithfully as long as her health permitted. Because of her love of the Lord and children, she served as a Primary Children's Class teacher for over 50 years. She was a member of the WMU, served as a Sunbeam & GA Leader and also taught Vacation Bible School for many years. She loved her Prime Time Ladies Sunday School Class where she served as treasurer. After raising her children, she kept children in her home for working mothers. With her sweet, kind, and gentle manner the children loved her and she loved each one as if they were her own. She loved being a homemaker and excelled in cooking. She began quilting at age 87 giving them to the family and friends as a lasting treasure. She was preceded in death by her husband of 53 years, Alpha Parks Beaver, a son, Tony Leon Beaver, brothers, Dave, Chatie, Howard, and Ronald Ingram; sisters, Nettie I. Alexander, Estelle I. Carrigan, Lena I. Milstead, and Helen I. Templeton. Mrs. Beaver is survived by her son, Jerry Dale Beaver and wife Hilda, daughter, Elaine B. Morrison, granddaughter, Trena B. Rash and husband Leroy, grandson, Michael W. Beaver and wife Sherwyn, great-grandchildren, Michaela Brook Beaver and Alexander Blake Beaver, all of Statesville. Several nieces and nephews along with "family at heart" Jennifer Holloway McLain and husband Donald and their daughter, Amelie of Davidson, also survive. Services honoring Mary I. Beaver and her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ will be conducted at 2:00 pm Sunday, August 11, 2013 at Monticello Baptist Church with Dr. Bobby Henderson and Rev. Glenn Dancy officiating. The body will lie in state 30 minutes prior to the funeral hour. Burial will follow in the Oakwood Cemetery. The family will receive friends Saturday evening from 6:00 until 7:30 pm at Nicholson Funeral Home. The family would like to thank Dr. Carla Pence, Dr. Roger Roark, Dr. John McGinty, Dr. Walter Holland and Dr. Phillip McGrew for the excellent care they provided over the years, also, hospice and palliative care for their help and support, especially Lindsey Chenevy, Helen York, and Anna Blanton. Special thanks to all family members and also to Kathy Kennedy and Carrie Caudle for the help they provided for Susie and family. Memorials may be made to Monticello Baptist Church, 3603 Taylorsville Hwy, Statesville, NC 28625 or to Hospice of Iredell County, 2347 Simonton Road, Statesville, NC 28625.
