Mrs. Sue Simerson Niblock, 86, of Lexington, NC and formerly of Cool Springs, passed away on Wednesday, January 01, 2014, at Carolina House of Lexington. Mrs. Niblock was born May 2, 1927 in Rowan County and she was the daughter of the late Spencer and Minnie Proctor Simerson. Sue was a graduate of Spencer High School and on January 18, 1948, she married Kenneth Cowan Niblock, who preceded her in death. She was a member of Fifth Creek Presbyterian Church and Sue worked for six years at Irving Park Elementary School as a cafeteria manager. Sue and Kenneth lived in Greensboro, NC until Kenneth's retirement in 1984 and they moved to Cool Springs, NC. She lived in Cool Springs until moving to Carolina House of Lexington in September 2011. In addition to her parents and her husband, Sue was preceded in death by brothers, William, Don, and Cecil Simerson along with three sisters, Nadine Kepley, Becky Swicegood, and Mary Watkins Lee. She is survived by a daughter, Linda Burcham and husband Ronnie of Summerville, SC and two sons, Olin Niblock of Lexington and Phillip Niblock and wife Teresa of Thomasville, NC. She is also survived by her brother, Boyd Simerson and wife Coleen of Homestead, FL, grandchildren, Emily Burcham of Summerville, SC, Scott Burcham and wife Brigid of New York and Andrew and Matthew Niblock, both of Thomasville, NC. She is further survived by great grandchildren, Abigail Moore of Summerville, SC and Elizabeth Sue Burcham of New York. Funeral services for Mrs. Niblock will be conducted 11:00 AM Saturday, January 4, 2013 at Fifth Creek Presbyterian Church with Rev. Steve Hannah officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. The family will visit with friends Friday evening from 6:00 until 8:00 pm at Nicholson Funeral Home. The family wishes to extend their sincerest gratitude to the staff at Carolina House of Lexington for their wonderful care of Sue.
