Steve Lloyd Summers

Steve Lloyd Summers, 69, of Union Grove, died unexpectedly at his home on Monday, August 6, 2018. He was born in Iredell County on August 12, 1948 and was the son of the late Doc Summers and Ruby Cook Summers. He attended Central School and in 1967 he married Gloria Combs Summers and together they shared 50 years of marriage until his death.



Steve worked as a truck driver with Furst McNess for 38 years before retiring to follow his other passion which was farming. He was a member of Rocky Hill Baptist Church.



Steve was a man who loved the land and what came with it, especially the animals. He had a special love for his animals as well as those that just showed up and became his animals. Steve would not turn any away which meant that no animal was an orphan. He was also a man that would do whatever he could to help others. Nothing compared to the love he had for his wife and son Todd. That was his purpose and his passion. He will be dearly missed.



In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by two sisters, Betty Shoemaker and Rosie Lytton.



Left to cherish his memory is his wife Gloria, his son Todd Steven Summers of Union Grove and a brother, Bud Summers of Love Valley.



Funeral services honoring the life of Steve Summers will be conducted at 11:00 AM Friday, August 10, 2018 at Rocky Hill Baptist Church with Rev. Henry Cook, Pastor Joey Campbell and Monty Harris officiating. The family will visit with friends starting at 9:30 until 11:00 AM at the church. The family will have a private burial at a later date.
