Stephen "Steve" Dale Riggs

Stephen Dale Riggs, 64, of Statesville, passed away Thursday, December 7, 2017 at the Gordon Hospice House. He was born on March 6, 1953 in Keyser, WV to the late James W. and Agnes Forinash Riggs. Steve was a graduate of Bruce High School in Westernport, Maryland and served his country honorably in the U.S. Army. He was retired from Freightliner where he had worked as a Cabline Team Leader. On October 16, 2013, he married Denise McIntyre Riggs after reconnecting with her after years apart. Steve was a loving husband, father, and grandfather who was always energetic and happy. He was always joking, and you never saw Steve without a smile on his face. Along with parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, James L. Riggs, and a sister, Kathy A. Riggs. Left to cherish his memory are his wife, Denise; a son, Stephen Adam Riggs; three daughters, Jennifer R. Johnson (Neil), Jessica T. Riggs, and Beth Goodman (Corey Pease); grandchildren, Gavin, Trey, and Silver Johnson, Bryson McInnis, and Stephen Goodman; a brother, Robert W. Riggs (Della); a sister, Rebecca J. Bray (Garry); a special aunt, Cathryn Jezowski; special cousin Rick Jezowski (Shelly), brother and sister-in-law, Jim and Cyndy Spicknall; and dear friends, Tom and Linda Shevlin. A Memorial Service will be held 2:00 pm Sunday, December 17 at Beulah Baptist Church with Rev. Brian Burgess officiating. The family will visit with friends prior to the service in the Sanctuary from 1:00 until 2:00 pm.
