Stephen David Porter

STEPHEN (STEVIE) DAVID PORTER SR.

Stevie Porter, age 70, of Statesville, passed away on Tuesday, February 28, 2023, at S. Mitchell Mack Hospice House in Mooresville. Born on December 9, 1952, in Iaeger, WV. He was the son of the late Charlie Porter and Tessie Thornsbury Porter and was raised in North Spring, WV. Stevie worked in the Coal Mining Industry in West Virginia and later moved to North Carolina to be with his family.

He loved The Lord fiercely and was a member of The Cove Church Statesville. Stevie cherished his family and was a devoted and loving husband, father, grandfather, brother, and friend to all. He loved hunting, fishing, and was an avid outdoorsman.

In addition to his parents, Charlie and Tessie Porter, he was preceded in death by his sisters, Juanita Trent, Barbara Shupe, and Ella Mae Lester; and his brothers, Charles Porter, Jr., Edward Porter, Cleve Porter, Edgar Porter, and Joe Porter.

Those left to cherish his memory include his wife of 50 years, Robin; his son, David Porter and wife, Andrea; grandchildren, Madison Soto and husband, Geovanny, and Chase Porter; brothers, Doug Porter and Tim Porter; and numerous nieces and nephews.

The family would like to thank Shauna, who he affectionately nicknamed SuSu, LeAndra, Bobbie, and all those who loved and cared for Stevie during his time with Hospice Care. A Celebration of his Life will be held at 4:00 pm, Tuesday, March 7, 2023, in the Chapel of Nicholson Funeral Home with Pastor Eric Johnson officiating. The family will gather with friends immediately following the service at the funeral home.
