Mrs. Stella Wooten Crater, 92, of Olin, died Tuesday, October 31, 2017 at the Gordon Hospice House. Born in Iredell County on September 23, 1925, she was a daughter of the late Jim Wooten and Marsha White Wooten. She was preceded in death by her husband, John Edward Crater. She was a member of New Prospect Baptist Church and active in the church Bible Schools at Grassy Knob Baptist Church. She was a charter member of the Grassy Knob Eastern Star Chapter and enjoyed gardening and being outdoors. She dearly loved her grandchildren and great grandchildren. She formerly worked at Hunt Manufacturing Co. Survivors include her son, Eddie Crater and his wife, Sandra of Olin, a sister, Naomi Wooten of Harmony, two grandchildren and four great grandchildren: Michael, Kristan, Emma and Sophia. She is also survived by several nieces and nephews including a special nephew Steve Wooten and his wife, Wanda. The family expresses special thanks to Joyce and Bonnie for their love. Also, special thanks are extended to the staff of the Gordon Hospice House. Funeral services are scheduled for 11:00 Friday at Grassy Knob Baptist Church with Rev. Joey Campbell officiating. She will lie in state and the family will receive friends in the sanctuary for one hour prior to the service. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.
