Sr Charlie Goodin

Charlie Goodin, 76, of Denver, passed away at Wake Forest Baptist Hospital, Winston-Salem, following a courageous battle with lung disease. He was born February 1938, in Statesville, NC to Bonnie Elder Goodin and the late William "Bill" Goodin. He graduated from Statesville High School in 1956. He spent four years in the U.S. Navy, one of which was aboard the USS Yorktown and three years shore duty in Alameda, California. He gave 36 years to the C.F. Sauer Co. of Richmond, VA. He married Elaine Brett on October 6, 1957. Together they had four children, Stephen, who died in infancy, Dawn Patrice Glasco, Janet Lynn Deviney, and Charles William Goodin, Jr. Elaine preceded Charlie in death. Charlie married Kathryn Julia Burchfield in 2007. His seven grandchildren are Judd and Josh Glasco, Scott, Brian, and Lindsey Ziegler, and Madison and MacKenzie Goodin and two great grandchildren, Riley and Davis Glasco. A graveside funeral service with military honors for Mr. Goodin will be conducted at 2:00 PM Thursday, May 29, 2014, in Oakwood Cemetery with Rev. Tim Killian officiating. The family will visit with friends Wednesday evening from 6:00 until 8:00 pm at Nicholson Funeral Home. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be given to the Sherrills Ford Hospice House, 7473 Sherrills Ford Road, Sherrills Ford, NC 28673.
