Sr. Bob Shepherd

Thomas Lee Shepherd, Sr. (Bob), 84, of Statesville, went to be with the Lord, March 16, 2014 from his longtime battle of cancer. Thomas was born December 14, 1929 in Wilkesboro, NC. He and his family later moved to Statesville. Thomas was preceded in death by his mother, father, two children, one brother and one sister. He is survived by his wife, Margie M. Shepherd, two sons from a previous marriage and two daughters and one son from his current marriage. Also surviving are two sisters from Statesville. Thomas married Margie on July 8, 1963 and had a total of seven children, 18 grandchildren and 40 great grandchildren. Thomas worked many jobs in his life time, often talked about his working at the Piedmont Creamy and Crescent Theater of Statesville. In 1941, Thomas became a painter and wallpaper hanger, he continued this proudly for 47 years. Thomas retired in 1988, to live and enjoy life with his wife, family and friends. Funeral services will be conducted 3:30 p.m. Friday, March 21, 2014 at Crestview Baptist Church with Rev. Garland Wilcox officiating. Burial will follow in Oakwood Cemetery. The family will receive friends on Thursday evening 6:00-8:00 p.m. at Nicholson Funeral Home. The body will lie in state one hour before the service.
