Siers Jean Polley

Jean Marie James Polley-Siers, 85, of Statesville, passed away Thursday, December 4, 2014. She was born in Trumbull County, Ohio on March 21, 1929 to the late Arthur David James and Emily Jean Cobb James. Jean was a graduate of Warren G. Harding High School and Kent State University where she received her teaching degree. She was a special education teacher for over 30 years. She was first married to Richard P. Polley for over 30 years before his passing in 1980. She was later married to Donald Ray Siers who also preceded her in death in 2009. She was baptized in the Christian Missionary Alliance Church in Lake Erie, Ohio. She was a member of the VFW Ladies Auxiliary where she was a past treasurer. Along with her parents and husbands, she was preceded in death by a daughter, Jacqueline J. Polley; a granddaughter, Margaret "Megan" Curtis; and two sisters, Beverly Sescourka and Audrey May Snovak. Jean is survived by three daughters, Kathleen M. Drobney, Barbara J. McClung, and Audrey Ann Mahoney; two sons, Richard P. Polley, Jr. and David P. Polley; 13 grandchildren; and 15 great grandchildren. A memorial service to celebrate her life will be held 2:00 PM Saturday, December 20, 2014 at Nicholson Funeral Home Chapel. Burial will be held at a later date at Crown Hill Burial Park in Vienna, Ohio. The family will visit with friends at Nicholson Funeral Home prior to the service from 1:00 until 2:00 PM. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Hospice and Palliative Care of Iredell, 2347 Simonton Road, Statesville, NC 28625.
