Shirlie Ann Isenhour

April 10, 1938 — October 31, 2018

Shirlie Ann Simmons Isenhour was born to Paul E. Simmons and Grace Spencer Simmons on April 10, 1938. She completed her journey on earth and entered the life triumphant on October 31, 2018.

Shirlie married Olin B. Isenhour on December 24, 1956 at Fairgrove United Methodist Church. They had four children; Olin Brian, Theresa Lynn (Watt), Paula Elizabeth (Young) and Philip Andre. The in-"loves" include Darrell, Steve and Annette. The families have included many grandchildren and great grandchildren.

Shirlie was a graduate of Foard High School and attended Lenoir-Rhyne College. She enjoyed the 42 years she and her husband served United Methodist Churches in western North Carolina.

For many years, she enjoyed caring for her home with a special interest in sewing. She reached out into the community through church and civic groups. As the years mounted she was afflicted with rheumatoid arthritis and lost the ability to do many of the things she loved for many years. Her last years were filled with medical issues which limited her life dramatically.

She was predeceased by her parents and her sister, Patricia (Pat). She is survived by husband of almost 62 years, her son, Brian, daughter, Terri (Darrell Watt), daughter, Lisa (Steve Young), son, Philip (Annette), sister, Susie Lowman (Ronnie); nine grandchildren, 10 great grandchildren and a host of beloved friends locally and in the churches she served with her husband.

Shirlie was a petite lady, reaching only 4 feet 10 inches in height. But in life she was a "tall" person. She loved her Lord and was faithful in her service to Him and His causes. She loved people and went out of her way to display her love. She was a devoted wife. She had a brilliant mind and used it to show her love to her husband in every way possible. No man could have a greater blessing. She was a devoted and caring mother who committed to the constant care of her children. Their needs were met before her own needs.

Our thanks are extended to the staff at Autumn Care who helped her overcome the results of a fall at home. Also, we would commend the staff at Iredell Memorial Hospital where she was cared for during her last hours, but most of all we give thanks to Almighty God Who gave her life and has now received her back into His presence.

Funeral services will be held 2:00 p.m. Sunday, November 4, 2018 at Bethlehem United Methodist Church with Rev. Michael Flack officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.
