Shirley Huffine

Shirley Dean Maye Huffine, 78 of Statesville, went home to be with the Lord on Friday, May 27, 2022.

She was born in Westminster County, Maryland on November 3, 1943, to the late Ernest "Bill" Maye and Leslie McLaughlin Maye. She grew up in Unicoi, Tennessee, and was also preceded in death by two sisters, Jean Good and Rita Foster.

Shirley met her husband, of 56 years, Jerry, at the Shriners of South Carolina. She was a member of Gloryland Baptist Church. She loved her church and her Lord. Shirley loved crafts and puzzles, feeding the squirrels, playing the piano, and singing.

Those left to cherish her memory include her husband, Jerry, a goddaughter, Leslie McDonald (Kevin), a sister, Sandy Phillips, a brother, William Maye (Barbara), a nephew, Wesley Hopkins (Elizabeth) who were her caregivers, and numerous nieces and nephews.

A Graveside Service will be held Sunday, May 29, 2022, at Fern Hill Baptist Church Cemetery at 2:00 pm with Rev. Blain Keaton and Rev. Conley Matlock officiating. The family will speak with friends following the burial.
