Shirley Bleasdale

Shirley Jean Scott Bleasdale, 84, of Statesville, passed away Friday, November 09, 2012 at Iredell Memorial Hospital. She was born January 8, 1928 in Berrien County, Michigan and was the daughter of the late George Franklin Scott and Gladys Mabel Scott. Mrs. Bleasdale was a lifetime member of the VFW post 2031 Ladies Auxiliary of which she was very involved serving as a five time president of the Auxiliary and as District 14 President. She was a lifetime member of the Disabled American Veterans Auxiliary and a member of the military order of the Cootties. She helped veterans wherever needed and spent time visiting veterans in the hospitals. Mrs. Bleasdale worked with high school students in the Voice of the Democracy Program and she was married to the late James T. Bleasdale, who preceded her in death on July 21, 1992. In addition to her parents and husband she was preceded in death by two daughters, Theresa and Diana. She is survived by a son, Fred Siekmann, of Scottsdale, Arizona, two daughters, Stacy Haman (Jeff), of Wilkesboro, NC and Vicki Siekmann Toms (David), of Virginia Beach, VA. She is also survived by five granddaughters, Kristen, Ryleigh, Carley, Dawne and Tammie, two grandsons, Ryan and Michael and five Great grandchildren. She is further survived by a sister, Beverly Weaver, of Buchanan, Mich. There will be a visitation at Nicholson Funeral Home Monday, November 12, 2012, from 10:00am to 11:00am.
