Sheila Mclain Mclaughlin

Sheila McLain McLaughlin, 74, of Statesville, died Friday, September 30, 2016 at her home. Born in Catawba County on January 9, 1942, she was a daughter of the late Fred Ransom McLain and Dollie Ester Holland McLain. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a sister, Gail McLain Davidson. Sheila was retired from the Greater Statesville Chamber Of Commerce after 17 years as an Information Specialist. She enjoyed cross stitching, playing the piano and singing. She was a former Miss Statesville during 1960 and 1961. She graduated from Statesville High School in 1960 and attended Mitchell Community College. Survivors include daughters, Maggie McLaughlin Lee (Vernon) of Tennessee, Mandy McLaughlin of Statesville, son: Jack McLaughlin (Laura) of Birmingham, Alabama, daughters Liz McLaughlin Deal (Jacob) of Statesville and Jennie McLaughlin Shumaker (Jason) of Olin. Also surviving is a sister, Sue McLain Baker of Statesville, a brother-in-law, Dorman Davidson and seven grandchildren. Private burial will take place in Oakwood Cemetery. The family will celebrate Sheila's life at 1:00 P.M. Thursday October 6, 2016 at South River Baptist Church with Dr. Chris Thompson officiating and will visit with friends following the service.
