Sgt. Robert M. Peppers

Sgt. Robert M. "Bob" Peppers of Troutman, died Monday, March 5, 2018, at Iredell Memorial Hospital surrounded by family and dear friends.



He was born November 9, 1942, in Anadarko, Oklahoma, moved to Covington, Virginia with his family but spent most of his life in Laurel, MD. He graduated from Laurel High School. His parents were the late Roy M. Peppers and Joyce Mitchell Peppers Brookman. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his step-father, Walter Brookman, two sisters, Elaine Brookman Felix and Linda P. Moody and brothers, Jerry Brookman and Larry Brookman.



In 1978 he married Lillie Marie Wilkinson Peppers who survives. Also surviving are his children Eddie Wilkinson (Kathryn) of California, Vicki Dee Wilkinson, Statesville, and Scott Wilkinson (Tracy) of Statesville and his beloved grandson Samuel Mason Wilkinson. His sisters Shirley Brookman Miles (Tim), Judy Brookman Noell (JR) both of Maryland, Peggy P. Evans (Steve) of Fort Cobb, OK and a brother, Donald Brookman of Maryland and Jerry Moody of OK also survive. Bob especially enjoyed spending time with Larry Connolly, his brother-in-law and bosom buddy. He is further survived by a number of nieces and nephews.



Bob's family was his life, but nothing compared to the love and admiration for his grandson Mason. He was his heart.



Bob served in the U. S. Army in Vietnam with the 1st Calvary as an MP and a helicopter gunner. Bob spent his working career in the automotive industry and retired from Truck Fleet in Concord, NC as an insurance adjuster for heavy equipment.



In lieu of flowers the family suggests that you do something to help someone else. That's what Bob would want.



The family will receive friends on Saturday, March 10, 2018 from 1:00 until 2:00 PM at Nicholson Funeral Home. A memorial service will follow starting at 2:00 PM in the Nicholson Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Bill Mason and Rev. Henry Cook officiating. Burial will follow in Oakwood Cemetery with military honors provided by the Iredell County Veterans Burial Detail.
