Nathan Scott "Scottie" Stewart, 56, of Statesville, passed away unexpectedly on Sunday, August 7, 2011 at Rowan Regional Medical Center. Mr. Stewart was born March 1, 1955 in Iredell County and was the son of the late Brady Lee and Shirley Brown Stewart. He attended Iredell County schools and on April 24, 1982, he married Jean Deal Stewart, who survives. Mr. Stewart attended Faith Baptist Church was employed with CIS Industrial Maintenance. In addition to his parents, Mr. Stewart was preceded in death by a sister, Joyce Ann Stewart. Along with his wife, Mr. Stewart is also survived by one daughter, Ashley N. Myers (Matt) and one son, Jared Scott Stewart (Ashley), both of Statesville. He is also survived by three grandsons, Derek Thompson, Drake Myers, and Landon Grimwood, all of Statesville. He is further survived by three brothers, Ronnie Stewart (Virginia) of Mt. Ulla, Larry Stewart (Lucia) of Denver, NC and Tommy Stewart of Mooresville along with numerous aunts, uncles, nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be conducted 7:00 pm Thursday, August 11, 2011 at Faith Baptist Church with Rev. Daniel Crowley and Pastor Dave Williams officiating. The family will visit with friends from 5:30 until 7:00 pm at the church. Active pallbearers will be Ronnie Stewart Jr., Jeremy Stewart, Josh Stewart, Richie Deal, JW Deal, and Michael Deal. Burial will follow at a later date. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Faith Baptist Church, 403 Barry Oak Rd, Statesville, NC 28625.
