Sarah Stamper

Mrs. Sarah Ruth Miller Stamper, 75, of Statesville, passed away Monday, January 20, 2014 at her home. Mrs. Stamper was born July 24, 1938 in Iredell County and was the daughter of the late Hubert Earl Miller and Eva Nell Campbell Miller. She attended Sharon School and was a graduate of Scotts High School. On November 24, 1960, she was married to the late Gary Wilson Stamper, who died January 4, 2006. She was a member of Sharon Lutheran Church and retired from Siecor Inc. in Hickory after 26 years. She loved her grandchildren, enjoyed watching them play sports, going shopping, NASCAR, especially Jeff Gordon and UNC Basketball. She is survived by two daughters, Teresa S. Duffey of Statesville, Connie S. Benge (Donnie) of Statesville, four grandchildren, Chris Whitaker (Blaire), Wesley Whitaker (Brittany), Gary Lee Benge, Sarah Nicole Benge, five great grandchildren, Nolan, Garrett, Easton, Bentley and Audrey Kate Whitaker and one sister, Thelma Miller Gregory (Espy) of Statesville. In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by three sisters, Wavel Robbins, Shelby Miller, Bobbie Miller and one brother, Richard Miller. Funeral services will be conducted 2:00 p.m. Saturday, January 25, 2014 at Sharon Lutheran Church with Rev. Darrell Norris, Rev. Gene Bruce and Rev. Larry Holleman officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends Friday evening 6:30-8:30 p.m. at Nicholson Funeral Home. Active pallbearers will be Chris Whitaker, Wesley Whitaker, Keith Levan, Brad McHargue, Mike McHargue and Johnny Rhyne. Memorials may be made to Sharon Lutheran Church, 2116 Island Ford Rd., Statesville, NC 28625 or church or charity of the donor's choice.
