Sarah Lodema Mitchell

Sarah Nash Mitchell, 84, of Statesville, passed away Tuesday, August 18, 2015 at Maple Leaf Health Care. She was born on May 31, 1931 in Iredell County to the late John Augustus and Mary Templeton Nash. Sarah was a graduate of Statesville Sr. High and was married to Charles Monroe Mitchell, who preceded her in death on August 22, 1996. She retired from Admiral Coated Products where she was a payroll clerk. She was a member of First ARP Church. Along with her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by a sister, Mary Jacqueline Adams; a nephew, Tommy Adams; and a special friend, Wesley Morrison. Left to cherish her memory are a daughter, Kim Goodman (Rodney) of Statesville; a son, John Mitchell (Nancy) of Statesville; 3 grandchildren, Bryant Moriarty (Ellie), John C. Mitchell (Danielle), and Shawn Mitchell (Crystal); and 6 great grandchildren, Michael and Brayden Moriarty, Haley, Shawn, Peyton, and Johnny Mitchell; one sister, Christine Rhodes (Russ), and several nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be held 2:00 PM Friday, August 21, 2015 at the Nicholson Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Phillip McCoy officiating. Burial will follow in the Iredell Memorial Gardens Cemetery. The family will visit with friends at the funeral home prior to the service from 1:00 until 2:00 PM.
