Sandra "Sandy" Lee Morrison Harrison

Mrs. Sandra (Sandy) Lee Morrison Harrison, 75, of Statesville, passed away and went to be with her Lord, on Monday, April 29, 2019 at Autumn Care in Statesville, surrounded by her caring family.

Sandy was born in Bryson City, NC, on June 20, 1943 and was the daughter of the late Ray Cameron Morrison and Maureen Smith Morrison. She was married to the love of her life for 57 years, Rev. Ronald H. (Ron) Harrison, who survives.

Over the past two decades that her husband, Ron, served as the Director of Missions for the South Yadkin Baptist Association (SYBA), Sandy served alongside him as the Church and Communities Ministries Director. She was passionate about helping local churches minister to their communities to show Jesus through actions. She exemplified Matthew 25:40 where Christ directs His people to care for the "least of these." Sandy originated Associational ministries that continue today, such as the Toy Store for Jesus, Fair Ministry, and food and clothing pantries. Sandy's relationship with Christ was her foundational core that drove not only the work that she did, but the life that she led.

Sandy worked with the North Carolina Baptist State Convention in training and developing women's groups in their walks with and ministries for Christ. She also served on several state committees and was a respected speaker throughout North Carolina.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her sister, Dr. Brenda Hunter (Don) and her grandparents who reared her, Knox and Dixie Morrison.

Along with her husband, Ron, left to cherish her spirit and continue her legacy are three children: Chris Harrison (Dr. Brenda Schoffstall) of Ft. Lauderdale, FL; Michelle H. Lourcey (Don) of Statesville; and Dr. Brad Harrison (Amy) of Troutman. She is also survived by five loving grandchildren, Dr. Brittany Kraft (Justin) of Tallahassee, FL; Kyle Harrison of Statesville; Abby Harrison and Caleb Harrison both of Troutman; and Elizabeth Lourcey of Statesville. A great-grandson, Everett Kraft of Tallahassee, FL, also survives.

A Celebration of Life service honoring the life and ministry of Sandy Harrison will be held at 2:00 PM Thursday, May 9, 2019 at Trinity Baptist Church, 221 Ervin Rd., Mooresville, NC.

The family will officiate the services. The family will speak with friends and relatives for one hour prior to the service at the church.

In lieu of flowers, the family has asked that memorials to honor Sandy's life and ministry be made to the South Yadkin Baptist Association's (SYBA) Toy Store for Jesus, at P.O.
