Samuel "June" Stewart, Jr.

Samuel J "June" Stewart, Jr., 93, of Statesville, passed away Monday, January 29, 2018 at Abernathy Laurels of Newton. He was born on November 29, 1924 in Iredell County to the late Samuel J Stewart, Sr. and Bernice Rimmer Stewart.



Mr. Stewart was first married to Mable Caldwell Stewart who preceded him in death on January 23, 1979. He then later married Evelyn Travis Stewart, who survives. He worked as a Supervisor for Clyde Fabrics of Newton before retiring with over 40 years of service. Mr. Stewart was a member of New Bethany Baptist Church



Along with his parents and first wife, Mable, he was preceded in death by a son, two sisters, and five brothers.



Left to cherish his memory are two sons, Dennis Stewart (Pam) and Kevin Stewart; one daughter, Audrey Crider (Roger); special grandchildren, Jason Stewart, Paula Zahm, and Heather Flor; three great grandchildren; four step-daughters; two step-sons; and a host of step-grandchildren and step-great grandchildren.



Funeral services will be held 3:00 pm Thursday, February 1, 2018 at New Bethany Baptist Church with Rev. Bill Mason officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. The family will visit with friends at Nicholson Funeral Home Wednesday evening from 6:00 until 8:00 pm. At other times the family will be assembled at the house of Audrey Crider.
