Ruth Marie Speaks Waugh

Ruth Marie Waugh,90, passed away February 26, 2024. 

Ruth was born in Iredell County on April 17, 1933 to the late Zeb Speaks Daisy Speaks. Ruth was a loving mother, grandmother,  great grandmother and great great grandmother. She was a strong woman and the matriarch of the family. She enjoyed spending time with her family and enjoyed cooking for them.  Her family all agree “ there is nothing like moms cooking”. 

She is preceded in death by her parents, husband, James Waugh and grandson, Curtis Deaton, sister, Inez Pool, brothers, Jerry Speaks and Gary Speaks. 

Ruth is survived by her sons, Roger Waugh, of Statesville, NC and Danny Waugh (Ann) of Statesville, NC; daughters, Debra Hager (Dennis)of Statesville, NC , Penny Minton ( Richard) of Statesville, NC , Diane Deaton ( David) of Myrtle Beach, SC,  Carol “ Pudding” Waugh, of Troutman, NC and Jean Marie Waugh, of Statesville, NC; grandchildren, Brian Waugh, Eric Minton, Keith Waugh, Jessica Vidal , Bradley Minton, Daniel Waugh, Ashley Day, Brent Nixon , James Brooks and Brandon Brooks; 14 great grandchildren and 2 great great grandchildren.  

A funeral service will be held at 2 PM, Friday March 1, 2024 at Nicholson Funeral Home in Statesville, NC with burial to follow at Iredell Memorial Gardens. The family will receive hour prior to the service. Pallbearer will be Brian Waugh, Keith Waugh, Daniel Waugh, Eric Minton,  Brent Nixon, Brandon Brooks, honorary pallbearers will be Bradley Minton , James Brooks and Mason Day.
