Ruth Lockey Burr

Lillie Ruth Lockey Burr, 78, of Statesville, died Saturday, May 18, 2019, at her residence.

Ruth was born on March 29, 1941, in Marlboro County, SC to the late Tecumseh Lockey and Cora Lee Chavis Lockey. She was also preceded in death by her husband, James Alfred Burr, Sr. whom she married on June 2, 1958, and a brother; Bobby Lockey.

Ruth attended schools in South Carolina and was retired from Carolina Mills as a knitter. She enjoyed doing yardwork, vegetable and flower gardening and just being outdoors.

Survivors include 2 daughters; Donna Burr of Troutman, Brenda LaMonaca (Guido) of Charlottesville, VA, a son; James Alfred Burr, Jr. (Robie) of Belton, Texas, 7 grandchildren, 10 great-grandchildren, 2 brothers; Eugene Lockey and Curtis Lockey, and a sister; Cathy Johnson.

A Graveside Service will be held Monday, May 20, 2019 at 4:00 pm at Oakwood Cemetery with Rev. Jeff Levan officiating. The family will speak to friends following the service.
