Ruby Williams Austin

February 24, 1922 — May 2, 2016

Mrs. Ruby Williams Austin, beloved wife of the late Robert D. Austin, went to be with her Lord and Savior on May 2, 2016.

Mrs. Austin is survived by a devoted son-in-law and caretaker, Cecil Faircloth of North Augusta, SC and two loving daughters, Candy McKenzie of Sardinia, Ohio and Robin Lund and her husband, Bill of Greensboro, NC. She was blessed with five grandchildren: Joy Manley (Rusty) of Gilbert SC; Brady McKenzie (Cathy) of Waxhaw, NC; Tracy Smith (Derek) of Belmont, NC; Melissa Cross (Josh) of Monroe, LA; and Brad Lund of Chicago, IL. She also had eight precious great-grandchildren: McKenna and David Manley, Kendall McKenzie, Georgia Smith and Jonathan, Lauren, Kathryn and Madeleine Cross.

She was preceded in death by her devoted husband, Robert D. Austin and her beloved daughter, Jane Faircloth.

Mrs. Austin was born on February 24, 1922 in Wilkesboro, NC to John Call and Daisy Wallace Williams. She attended Union Grove High School and married Mr. Austin in March of 1942. Mrs. Austin was a devoted housewife and later worked for the Jack Eckerd Corporation. She made Charlotte, NC her home for 38 years. An avid follower of Jesus Christ, she was a member of Thomasboro Baptist Church where she was very involved in the Youth Ministry. When Mr. Austin retired, they moved to N. Augusta, SC to be near their daughter, Jane. Mrs. Austin was a member of First Baptist Church of North Augusta where she worshipped until failing health precipitated a move to National Healthcare where she resided until her death.

Her life will be celebrated on Saturday, May 7, 2016 at 11:00 am in the chapel of Nicholson Funeral Home in Statesville, NC. Interment will follow at Fairview Baptist Church, where she will be laid to rest beside her husband. Dr. Scott Eanes will be officiating. The family will receive friends at 10:00am prior to her celebration service.
